Daily Bone Xcel™ is our top bone-building formula. It provides highly absorbable calcium, magnesium, and cofactor nutrients for strong bones.*
The Quality Difference
Quality of calcium is very important, as are numerous cofactor nutrients that support healthy bone metabolism.* We never compress minerals into tablets, as this makes them difficult to absorb. Also, we never use cheap minerals like calcium carbonate, bone meal, dolomite, or oyster shell, as they are very difficult for the body to use. While calcium citrate is easy to absorb, 1,000 mg of calcium citrate per day may cause headaches or fatigue. Wellness Resources specializes in exceptionally absorbable forms of minerals, especially calcium.*
Coral minerals are a unique type of high quality minerals, naturally built into highly crystalline structures by sea organisms called polyps. When the polyps die, they leave behind a natural blend of calcium, magnesium, zinc, selenium, and many other trace minerals. The highly organized geometric structure of these minerals enables them to have unique biological activity. They are the only form of calcium shown to be both fat and water soluble. They are in a readily ionizable form, meaning these minerals are easy to absorb and utilize.* In fact, they have an absorption rate of 70 percent, higher than any food and almost twice that of many other forms of calcium.*
Microcrystalline hydroxyapatite complex (MCHC) is another excellent form of calcium. Bones are made of hydroxyapatite crystals, a unique blend of collagen fibers, calcium, phosphorus, and other mineral cofactors. MCHC is a true bone food. It is directly transported to bone, literally acting as a pre-made bone food. This provides a significant bone-building advantage.*
Vitamin D
Vitamin D3 has been shown to improve calcium absorption and support bone health.* Many people do not get adequate sun exposure for vitamin D synthesis, especially in winter months, making vitamin D supplementation essential.* Furthermore, Vitamin D has many functions in the body, one of which is assisting parathyroid hormone, which improves the bones’ utilization of calcium.*
Many experts recommend 3,000 to 5,000 IU of vitamin D per day for adults. Five capsules of Daily Bone Xcel™ provide 1000 IU; 2 Daily Super Packs™ provide 1,066 IU. You may also take Bone & Joint Helper™ or Vitamin D capsules with Daily Bone Xcel™ to boost Vitamin D intake.
Magnesium and Bones
Magnesium is needed to activate the bone enzyme, alkaline phosphatase, which is involved in forming new calcium bone crystals.* Magnesium is also required to convert dietary vitamin D into its biologically active form, D3.* Low magnesium lessens the function of parathyroid hormone, a main hormone that assists in the formation of new bone. Diets rich in magnesium are also consistent with good bone health.*
Vitamin K
Vitamin K works in harmony with vitamin D to enable calcium to form the hydroxyapatite bone crystals, the very building block of bones.* Without vitamin K, calcium cannot attach to the collagen matrix of bone.* Daily Bone Xcel™ contains both K1 and a unique form of K2 called K2VITAL® DELTA, an all trans MK-7 form that is uniquely stable, even when included in mineral formulations such as Daily Bone Xcel™. Just three capsules of Daily Bone Xcel™ provide 45 mcg of K2 as MK-7, a basic amount shown to be supportive of bone health. For additional K2 combine with Bone & Joint Helper™, which also contains other synergistic ingredients.
Individuals taking the blood-thinning medication Coumadin should not use Daily Bone Xcel™ or Daily Builder™, as the vitamin K may nullify the effects of the drug. Such individuals may use some of our calcium products formulated without vitamin K, such as Coral Calcium.
Trace Minerals
Boron works synergistically with magnesium to strengthen bone and joint health.* Strontium occurs in relatively large concentrations in bones and teeth and is another important cofactor for healthy bones.* Silica is found in high concentration at calcification sites of growing bone and plays a role in bone formation.* Manganese is also needed for bone mineralization, as well as for connective tissue and cartilage formation.* These trace minerals, while needed in smaller amounts than calcium or magnesium, are also very important for optimal bone health.*
